The endless-looking arrow-straight highway greets the motorist. It was so in the old days too but now there are no large trees on either side of the road-wa and the highway is much wider and the smaller twists and turns have been straightened out.

Vavuniya is a bustling town now. You can buy brand new tractors, cars, three wheelers etc.

On the A9 highway, Medawachchiya to Poonewa.

A pleasant drive with the road 'arrow-straight' but with small climbs and dips. The lush greenery on either side of the road was a treat.

The highway is 90% compete and was a pleasure to travel in. The regular luxury buses from Colombo go with hardly a bump on the completed parts of this highway.

Around Wariyapola, Sri Lanka.

Gone are the days of pot-holes. We have a brand new highway from Kurunegala via Wariyapola to Anuradhapura. It was a stupendous achievement by the present Government.

On the road from Kurunegala to Wariyapola, Sri Lanka.

There is a highway connecting Kurunegala to Anuradhapura via Wariyapola. It has been relaid and is a pleasure to drive. Above photos show two parts of the highway.
