Birds on an abandoned paddy field, Wasgamuwa National Park, Sri Lanka.

The Wasgamuwa National Park was created in the early 1980s. It had quite a few paddy fields which had a shortage of water for cultivation of rice. The entire population in the area demarcated as the Wasgamuwa National Park was given land with water supply in the Mahaweli diversion projects, elsewhere.
