Passing Kokavil, Murikandy, on the A9 Highway, Sri Lanka.

The Kokavil TV transmitting station.

Railway lines - the old track awaiting reconstruction.

The historic Murikandy Pillayaar Temple. Most of the travelers on this ancient road would stop here and break a coconut to the God Pillayaar, to protect them on their onward journey. The tradition is very much active even now.

Towards Kanagaraayan Kulam, A9 Highway, Sri Lanka.

The road stretches on.

A farmer working his field.

Paddy fields.

The endless-looking arrow-straight highway greets the motorist. It was so in the old days too but now there are no large trees on either side of the road-wa and the highway is much wider and the smaller twists and turns have been straightened out.
