Coming down from Ramboda, on the Nuwara Eliya there is a place called Thawalamtenne, where a side road on the left leads past the Kothmale dam to Ulapena. The name Thalamtenna recalls the place where water Buffalos assemble to take their burden down into the Kotmale valley. This road goes parallel to the Mahaweli Ganga. On the right side the road to the Mahaweli Chathya, leads to a beautiful Dagoba. Further down on the left there is a view point to see the 'The Kothmale Dam'.
