Hot water springs in Sooriyawewa.

When I visited this place in 1969, it was in the outback with jeep tracks leading to it from Thanamalvila. Now it has been built up and the local council earns a fair income from it.

Family transport in Sooriyawewa, Sri Lanka.

The province of Uva in Sri Lanka has fields of paddy tended by farmer families. The two-wheel diesel tractor and trailer is an essential item in farming. I took this photo on a Poson holiday where an extended family had come far from home to visit the hot springs close to Sooriyawewa.

Watering a field, Sooriyawewa.

On a hot day with an approaching drought it is necessary to water the fields using a diesel pump. The water is pumped from a water channel emerging from the Sooriyawewa tank.. I took this picture in February, 2010.
