St.Claire's waterfalls and environment, Hatton, Sri Lanka.

'How green is the valley'. The different shades of green with the constantly changing landscape - the effect of sunlight and mist is a delight to watch. You always find peace and serenity if you linger awhile.

The valley below Hatton, Sri Lanka.

The road from Hatton to Nuwara Eliya is not well maintained. There are pot-holes on the road,  caused by the transport of construction material to the Upper Kothmale dam. The view over the valley is breathtaking on this road. The greenery and the two waterfalls, the Devon and St Clairs on this road add to the enchantment. This picture was taken by me near the beginning of the road at the Hatton end.

Wayside waterfall, on the Hatton - Nuwara Eliya road, Sri Lanka.

When the rainy season starts in Sri Lanka, you find plenty of small waterfalls by the side of the road. I took this picture on the Hatton - Nuwara Eliya road, in November 2007. Passers by often stop at these beautiful spots, to have a leisurely bath in the ice-cold water, followed by a lunch partaken on the side of the road, from their parked vehicles.
