Samanala Kanda (Adam's peak) and its neighbour called 'Baena Samanala Kanda' as seen from the town, Kuruwita. I presume the tallest peak is Pedurutalagala, the tallest mountain of Sri Lanka.

'Batathota Lena', Kuruwita, Sri Lanka, the climb.

'Batathota Lena' identified by some as the 'Bhagawa Lena' - the cave where Lord Buddha rested in the vicinity of Sri Pada - Adam's Peak, during one of his visits to Sri Lanka, is now a popular pilgrim site. The approach road is via the road to Erathna from Kuruwita. The climb to the cave - 'Lena' has a pathway made of concrete, as you can see in these photos I took on the 30th of June 2013.

Bo-path Ella (waterfall), Kuruwita, Sri Lanka.

The waterfall shaped like the leaf of the Ficus religiosa - 'Bo tree', is situated about 3 Km from the Kuruwita town, on the Colombo - Ampara road. Some 'chalets' catering to tourists, have sprung up around the site. Quite a few people have died here attempting to scale the slippery rocks.

Bottom of 'Bo-path Ella' waterfall, Kuruwita, Sri Lanka.

Eight miles short of Rathnapura, on the Avissawella-Rathnapura trunk road is the town of Kuruwita. About one and a half Kilometers from Kuruwita lies the 'Bo-path Ella' waterfall. Its shape is like that of the leaf of the sacred Bo tree (Ficus religiosa). Hence the name. Thereare a lot of villas where you could find food and accomodation around this spot. It is a lovely place for bathing. Climbing the slipperry rocks is dangerous. Quite a lot of lives have been lost this way. It is also a notorious place for suicides.
