'Murthy Thorana' - Wesak 'pandal' with clay figures, Avissawella, Sri Lanka.

The above photo shows a rather unusually designed 'Wesak Pandal', with clay figures mounted on the board to tell the story.

A 'Wesak Pandal' is a huge bill-board like  structure. It has a story of Lord Buddha in a previous life depicted in a series of pictures. There is a system of blinking lights arranged sequentially.

Expressway over the main road at Kaduwela, Sri Lanka.

The continuation of the expressway from Matara, as the outer circular expressway, takes one from Kottawa to Kaduwela. It then continues to Kadawaththe. This last stage from Kaduwela to Kaduwathe is almost complete. This picture shows the flyover continuing as a new bridge over the Kelany Ganga.

Sunset at Sedawaththe, Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Sedawaththe is a very old settlement on the left bank of the Kelany Ganga. In ancient times ships bringing produce from overseas anchored here. In later times timber in the form of tied logs were transported on the river from the forests up stream and a lot of timber mills were erected here.

Restoring old model cars is a hobby among quite a few present day Sri Lankans. Owners of junk yards do a roaring business selling needed replacements.
