Kallady bridge as seen from the Batticaloa Dutch Star Fort, Sri Lanka.

The old bridge at Kallady, crossing the Batticaloa lagoon is seen in this picture taken from the ramparts of the Dutch Star Fort, across the lagoon. A new bridge is being built and will wipe away this view when the bridge is completed..

The planting of Casuarina trees on the land side of the Kallady beach, Batticaloa, was part of the post-tsunami project. They are growing well and will provide much needed shade to people in the future.

Old bridge on the Ulapane to Pussellawa road, Sri Lanka.


One mile from Ulapane on the Pussellawa road, this bridge built to replace the 'Upside down' bridge, is in its last legs and is being replaced by a new concrete bridge by its sidewhich still under construction. This bridge bridges the Mahawely Ganga in its upper reaches.
